Smile On

There is joy in your soul in your spirit and mind

And the crushing blow comes in the day or the night

And you have to decide how you handle the pain

If you keep joy alive or you fall under the drain

And you think, should you let them steal all your joy?

Should you allow them the sick pleasure and be their new toy?

Oh no, do not give them the evil satisfaction

You keep on your joy and decide to smile on.❤

Eye Contact Plus Smile Equals Love

I have a new custom of late. Having grown tired of the rude lack of eye contact with humans lately. They are so often involved in this.fantasy world of phones and tech and games that they rarely look at you, even if they are working in the place you are. This is horrible and I have rejected it. So my new custom is to demand eye contact by not giving the right automaton response or calling their name if wearing a nametag or something and smile and say hi. I want to remind them that real people still exist and that we are friendly and loving. I am not a robot or fantasy thing. I am real. I believe it is making a difference one person and I highly recommend you adopt my new habit. It is beautiful and makes a difference. Soon, these same people look for you to come in because they need love, need that smile, need eye contact, saying “I see you. I care. I love you and want to see you.” And bam! Difference made. Small but carries over maybe to heights unknown. (And God sees it.) ❤

Putting Your Best Smile Forward

With a few exceptions when the weight is too much to bear alone, my tendency is to be strong and just take it all, wearing a smile or a laugh or an encouraging word. I always feel God would not have made me so strong and capable of doing so much if He wanted me to burden everyone else with it. I burden Him only, for the most part except a few very close friends I that love me and I love and can count on. And God is, well, God so there is nothing a burden to Him at all. And sometimes He trusts me with more than I can bear at that moment and I need prayer support of my people or a listening ear. Sometimes I just can’t even get to the phone in time before I completely lose it and weep unmercifully. And then God answers my cry for comfort and He hugs me and dries my tears and strengthens me for another go round. And I smile and I laugh and I encourage and hang with my people. And there are so many living like this. I never knew how many until I opened myself up to blogging about it and we are not alone in the struggle. But the very cool thing is this. God is big enough to help us all and we are never alone or without strength.

Smiling Graces

A smile is free. A smile can make someone’s day. A smile is a gift that says, “You matter.” Smiling at someone when you are having a bad day can make your day turn in a different direction. It is a wonderful show of God’s love through us. A smile says, “Right now, no matter what is happening to me in my life, I choose to give you the grace of a smile because I have joy from God that you might need right now.” All that encompasses a smile. In stark contrast, not smiling at someone makes you just like every other self-absorbed and distracted person around us. Not smiling says, “I matter so much more than you and my emotions are bigger than my joy so I’m not sharing joy with you.” It is a simple truth. Smiling conveys attention and warmth and it is the better answer every time. You just might save a life by proving with a smile that someone in the world cares. Smiling is nice. Smile. 🙂
