Skating Crazy

So after the 3 1/2 hour wait for my tires to get patched up, I had a quick bite and the kids and I headed to skate. And this was crazy. Evidently, there were a couple of birthdays there and many, many kids were lured into a skating rink that God had never blessed with the opportunity to do so. And there were so many! And the skate place had the brilliant idea to now make “skate buddies”, training wheel triangle – shaped helpers that they make more money on than the entrance or rentals. And these things take up a lot of space and have no control. Brilliant money maker for them but deadly for us trained skaters. So there were about 15 of these out at a given time going helter- skelter, every which way. Insane!

But we managed to have good time but I am exhausted…. not from skating but from dodging not to kill anyone or fall. Lol. So skating was crazy tonight but still fun. And way better than sitting at home. ❤

Skating Rinks

Growing up in Michigan, our school went to skating trips weekly for exercise outings and PE. Sometimes it was bowling, but we preferred skating. I recently realized people still skate in our town after years of not living where people did so. So the kids and I have been skating, and it feels very nostalgic and I am a kid all over again out on that rink. Great exercise. And one other thing…

My kids soon realized one of the things skating Rinks are good for… training for driving in the real world. I think everyone should master dodging the beginners and kids going the wrong direction randomly and slow pokes and mind changers that randomly swerve a different way than they were headed or the speeders flying in and out of everyone or sudden stoppers. Oy! So my suggestion is not spiritual this time but practical… before your precious child drives on the crazy road, be sure he/she has learned defensive driving maneuvers you can achieve on a skating rink. I really think that and my dad’s lesson on neurotically checking all my mirrors and blind spots is why I have been a successful defensive driver. And I firmly believe I have the best and most fit guardian angel God ever made, for I was quite the speedster in my younger years and have driven a lot, 23 hours in a row at one point. So seriously, don’t neglect the skating rinks. Pretty great fun and exercise also. God bless! 😄❤

Fence Phase 1 Complete

Today we finished phase 1 of the fence. We covered the posts with overlapping 1″x8″x8′ boards, elevated 1 inch for a subtle decorative feature. Came out beautiful and sturdy. Super happy to be finished with the greatest phase in size and demension. We start phase 2 tomorrow and that is very cool. Thank God. And another matter of thanks is our new favorite treat that we will be making a habit of. After mowing and a good shower, I took the kids skating. What fun! I forgot how fun skating was. My daughter’s first time. My son is a natural, faster than I am! We had a ball and it was a lovely cheap date for us. Fantastic!😄❤
