Generally, it takes an injury to get me to take a break and rest. It is just how I am cut. I am a worker, I enjoy it, love it and it is healthy and gets things done. I would rather do something than sit around, every time.
So, not being a kid anymore, here I am with a right shoulder ligament tear. Yippee. And thr pain is big when I do pretty much anything. So, God wants me to rest again. I have to get better and finding a balance so it doesn’t take such extremes to get me to slow down a bit.
And resting is important. In fact, just as too much rest makes you lazy, too much works causes pain. We are to do both. Rest in the Lord. Work for the Lord. Still working n on how to do that, but I think they key is to honor the Lord in anything you do and rest is a part of taking care of the body He gave me, just as much as working is. 😄❤
There is something special about just laying all your random things that come up that can get to you down into God’s more than capable hands and just letting go of them. I visualize myself placing them into His enormous hands and stepping back with a lifted step and grateful heart. That is such a beautiful moment. Yesterday at the pool, I met a nice lady who said she worries and I told her she didn’t have to and she looked at me as if it never occurred to her. Carrying burdens is a choice. We can lay every burden or load down in God’s hands and that leaves us free to worship and love and work free. How peaceful and joyous and beautiful is that! What a mighty and loving God we serve.❤
The Lord granted me rest today when I needed it. The baby was not able to come over today after PE, as the car seat was “accidentally” not left for him. This was unexpected and granted me rest. I could spend time with my kids and husband, teach school, catch up on laundry, do the dishes, prepare for band practice, etc. It was wonderful, as this week is the busiest week of our lives so far this year. Crazy busy and I was feeling overwhelmed and a bit guilty for being behind in my care of my family. So God gives me this gift of time. It was amazing, and the whole time I was at perfect peace and joy. Wow! What a gift! God is so very good!😄❤❤❤
Most of my life, I was asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow. I have been asked my secret. I will tell the whole world now because many people are apparently having difficulty getting to sleep. Here is my lifestyle that promotes restful sleep as soon as you lay down for bed…
1. Faith and trust in God. I understand that sounds like a simplistic, pat answer but I assure you it is legit. I do not worry for I put my life and everything going on into God’s hands before going to sleep.
2. Pray right before bed and read the Bible. This is where you put all those things into God’s hands.
3. Guilt-free, clean living. Now those few years of my life I did not get right to sleep were the years I was steeped in sin. Hard to sleep when #1 and #2 above are unattainable because of sinful, guilty living.
4. Hard work during the day. I work hard at living and serving in the day and worship God and cook and clean and so on. If there is yard work, I do that too. I also walk the dog with the kids 4 times a day for more exercise.
That is it. I believe I put them in the order of importance also, so please be encouraged that your sleep is important to the Lord. If you do these four things every day and pray for sound, quick sleep, God will provide that to you and bless you for it. God bless you!😴❤
Ok, so it wasn’t my love of oil painting, but painting n it was. I repainted the trim in our new back patio and my husband and son hung bamboo shades. And it us amazing how cozy a transformation that was! Little changes make a big change. Tomorrow we do the trim and grout the tiles and voila, all is finished and the room may be lived in. Super excited. And I love that the whole family helped with it as we will all benefit.
After a day of work, the kids and I went to the pool and that was wonderful. And my kids reminded me that work is not all there is. Yes, work for the Lord when you work anywhere for anyone else (even rude people). But God does not require us to be slaves that never get a break. Breaks are important. Fun is important. Too much of anything is not healthy, including work. So, I will work on the health of balance for my kids’ sake.❤
Ya know, in life we have ups and downs. And generally we don’t appreciate the ups fully until we hit those downs. And of course when we are in the downs, we desperately long for the ups that we will again not fully appreciate and so on. That is the way of it. Most t hj ings n in nature God created to want to be neutral. All things were designed to be in balance with each other. It is true in chemistry, which I love, and biology and virology (for the most part) and microbiology (all of these of which I have studied in great depth in earning my science based doctorate).
Enter plateaus. These are the flatlands, thr neutral spaces, the balanced places, the waiting games places where nature is most content and we are not. These places I have come to accept and truly appreciate, for the ups and downs are not present here. Something has to happen to change the plateau. For weight loss, it is to try to change the proportions or mix up the menu or change the exercise. In life, a change event has to happen to go up or down, like a loss or gain or accident or surprise. In nature, an imbalance has to happen for things to scurry to get balanced again. God designed this. These plateaus should be celebrated for they increase stability and balance and allow for some rest before the change comes. They are indeed created by God (like we are) to be a blessing. We still work in the plateau, we all still do our job, nature does its job, mitochondria and enzymes do their job, everything is working but not in a stressed out way. This is an absolutely beautiful place to be, friends. See it as a blessing as it was designed to be for you. ❤
We have been working hard in the summer sun putting up a fence Lady Irma had removed. And my husband generously decided we needed to take a break and rest up and restart it Monday. This is a huge break, allowing me to catch up on vacuuming and house cleaning and some park time with my babies and really needed prayer time. God is good and so is rest sometimes. As much as I want that fence up and love hard work, sometimes rest is really important too. Rest is renewal. Too much rest is awful but we sure need some of it.❤
