Where there is a human being on this planet in this condition, there is a heart within that person struggling against impurity. It can be subtle like thinking too much of household upkeep to as damaging as harboring hate to commit a crime against another or self and any possible scenario between. Most of the time an excess of pride and thus selfish thinking, considering one’s self way too highly, is the greatest purity harmed because things are justified such as wanting someone else’s things or looking at things we should not or pampering yourself with monies allocated for missions or whatever. And we get here to the point. Jesus Christ is catching away the true, pure of heart Christians on this planet probably pretty soon here. There will be a catching up and we will be removed from this planet so we don’t have to go through the horrors of the tribulation. Those Christians impure of heart or lukewarm or lazy in their walk or relationship with Jesus Christ will have to go through the horrible tribulation to purify themselves and prove they choose God. I do not want that and certainly don’t want hell in my eternal future, so I want a pure heart and passionate walk and relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I sure bet you do to. So how do we do that? From my viewpoint, deprivation and humility, constant prayer with fastinh, Bible reading, and loving/serving people in your path every time you meet them. That is it. I say “deprivation” because that is how rich Americans would see letting go of luxuries that distract such as idols, money, fancy things, salon and spa appointments, social media and tech, most movies and tv shows, most news, porn, drugs, alcohol, whatever distracts and has been more time consuming and attention enrapturing than God and worshipping Him and your relationship with Him. The Bible is truth. Everything written in it is truth. It has happened or will happen. We must be pure and strong in faith and action and purity of heart and encourage others to be also. I really want everyone saved and so does God in His great love and grace! Praise God! Fall back in love with Him or just deepen your love for Him and throw distractions away. Be ready with me, might be today or in a few years but I have a saying on my fridge: “Jesus is coming for me today… unless He doesn’t.” It is better today day be safe than sorry when the stakes are so high. And God is so amazing and worthy and loving Him as He loves us is so wonderful! You can not go wrong.
Walking on a cool, crisp cloudless day, my feet decided a road less traveled with the ticket for this liesurely stroll. i arrived at a little bit of a clearing in the trees lining this rocky dirt road or path rather. Through the break I could see two black eyes looking straight into mine. Maybe 30 feet seperated our bodies but our eyes met and minds explored each other’s motives. Big ears straightened tall and neck extended and we observed each other for quite a few moments until she concluded that I was no threat and continued grazing. A beautiful doe alone and then soon not alone as several others appeared around the cusp of trees that had masked them from me. Fifteen total, a small herd for Michigan, all feasting happily on my dad’s corn. He would not be pleased but I enjoyed these animals and enjoyed more the acceptancee of them as a safe place. Maybe a half hour passed, maybe longer, until my black lab refound me after an exploratory mission and consequently found the deer to chase off. Sheba’s playful antics could not sway me from my present peaceful state of mind at the exchange I just experienced. My mind takes me back to that moment sometimes, where wild ones saw me and knew we were connected somehow and accepted me as safe. Both built by a common Father, it does the sould a world of good to make friends with an animal, many. The more we see and know of the creation, the greater homage and worship we pay the Creator. All this is His. He still rules it. And what is made by Him still knows it is made by HIm. They are keenly aware, and being with them reminds us, we who are faced with more distractions than ever, more lies than ever, we can retain a sample and reminder of that purity, that worship, that humbling of ego and uplifting of uniqueness inn design. We are greater when we make Him greater.
“Dear friends, we have these promises from God, so we should make ourselves pure—free from anything that makes body or soul unclean. We should try to become holy in the way we live, because we respect God.” – 2 Corinthians 7:1
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In God’s great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Now we hope for the blessings God has for his children. These blessings, which cannot be destroyed or be spoiled or lose their beauty, are kept in heaven for you. God’s power protects you through your faith until salvation is shown to you at the end of time. This makes you very happy, even though now for a short time different kinds of troubles may make you sad. These troubles come to prove that your faith is pure. This purity of faith is worth more than gold, which can be proved to be pure by fire but will ruin. But the purity of your faith will bring you praise and glory and honor when Jesus Christ is shown to you. You have not seen Christ, but still you love him. You cannot see him now, but you believe in him. So you are filled with a joy that cannot be explained, a joy full of glory. And you are receiving the goal of your faith—the salvation of your souls. – 1 Peter 1:3-9
When I was out walking the dog this morning at 7:30am, my new routine, I knew the sun was just coming up so threw on my sunglasses. As I was walking her, the sun went behind a cloud and a fog rolled in. Not thinking of it, I still had my sunglasses on and they also became cloudy. It took me a few minutes to realize it because it was gradual. I took my glasses off and was amazed at the clarity. And the Holy Spirit spoke to me in my heart and said that is what sin does. And if you think about it, we all have a pair of glasses in our minds God builds into us. Our job is to worship Him and fill our minds with truth that keeps those glasses clean so we can see with pure eyes the world He made to enjoy. What sin does is sneak in a little at a time and add a little fog or dirt or since to those glasses in our minds to where our vision becomes skewed and we don’t even realize it. The most harmful lies are those the enemy plants into our mind and we accept them as a part of ourselves and see everything through that distortion. These damages harm us most and hinder us from being able to share truth with others well because truth isn’t truth anymore. We don’t realize it but truth that is tainted is no longer the absolute truth, it is your new truth which isn’t the same. To get back to the truth of God and to become effective again and not be hindered in your walk and relationship with God, you have to do what would have kept you pure in your vision, which is worship and fill your mind with God’s truth found in His Word and prayer to Him. God is the giver of the truth and man is the giver of man’s truth. Before you accept anyone but God’s truth as your own, you have to see if what they said lines up with the Bible. We are told to trust God and not man for that reason. Focus on God is focus on the truth, for He is truth. Feed the mind truth and ask God for help humbly and He will help you and clean off your glasses. Then you will see His amazing world and people as He does and really enjoy His beauty.
Humanism has seeped into the church, slid in smoothly and easily right before our eyes. I was a worship leader for some time as God led me to it. I noticed right away what was needed. We need to point people’s worship and attention to God, to Christ our Messiah and Savior. To Him the worship belongs. We honor Him by pointing people to Him. As soon as we look for applause or have a gleam in our eyes for accolades, we have started our feet on the path of failure at our job. Worship is all about how magnificent God is and not how great someone might sing or play. This worship leading vocation must necessary be the most humbling job on the planet. It is the basic of callings and what we are created for. We were made to worship. To lead people to that, we must let go of ourselves and our status. When we concentrate too much on rote and perfection, we can stifle the Holy Spirit’s movement. We must go where He leads and if His plans differ from what we planned, we must be eager to let go of control and agendas and strive to follow with every breath we take. A person who leads worship must be a person of prayer and Bible study and meditation. A worship leader must rise up to lead on his or her knees. Anything less and failure is looming. God is everything. It is all for Him and about Him. To be successful in churches country wide we must quit the humanistic shows and turn off the fancy lights that bring glory to people and get back to focusing on God. There is nothing wrong with a show, but church is God’s and a show is for people to make money or magnify themselves or for entertainment. This should have no place in a church. We need to give churches back to God and build His kingdom and not our own. This is vital to the life and integrity of the church. God deserves better from us.
Openness. The key to purity is living your life as an open book. I heard a quote today I have been reflecting on, “Something done secretly is sorcery.” I dismissed the quote at first but the more I pondered it, chewed on it, I realized there is much truth there. When you think no one is looking, like you are in incognito mode or passwords are up or you are alone in your office or car, you have a draw, an excitement that is no longer in check and is much more easily given into. Not just porn or sexual impurity but also stealing from the office or drinking when you shouldn’t or gossiping or worrying to distraction or whatever purity/sin issue you have fallen for in the past (because that is where you’ll be attacked again). The key is really to live your life in the open as much as humanly possible. Keep your door open. Don’t have a password. Welcome people coming in at odd times. Invite people over. Keep busy. Actually do your work. The main point is that when you go into secret mode, the enemy has you right where he wants you and you are his dupe again. Knowledge is power. Know the enemy’s methods and you can defend yourself. Don’t allow a surprise attack. Remain out in the open and you are much more able to resist being pulled somewhere you think is safe to sin. Because you are always an open book to God. There is no secret place from Him. The enemy can’t even hide from Him. So, He always knows when you’re screwing up, even if no one else does. So, purity is admitting that and saying that you don’t want any distractions to come between my relationship and prayer life with God. Live open, like you are an open book, and I tell you the purity will be there and you will win the victory over sin and distraction and walk in sweeter friendship with the all mighty and loving God of the universe. And He who is always faithful to you will reward you for being faithful to Him. And you will sleep deeper and feel great!
