Just Be Ready

My husband’s oldest brother has been in the hospital but was getting better, was on the mend. He passed last night, however. And it was a reminder for the entire family to just be ready. Don’t put off repentence. Don’t put off humble prayer. Don’t put off worshipping God with your life. Don’t think you have more time to get your spiritual house in order for death sneaks up. Who knows if his pornography addiction was addressed by him before God. We do not know. God knows. I do pray it is so. Yes, he was a good man and took good care of his family but God wants to be first and only He knows the heart. He knows all our hearts intimately. Don’t gamble with eternity. The message for us all is to just be ready. When this frail life is gone, eternity remains and that is what this life is supposed to prepare for and determine. Just be ready.❤

Music, Music, Music

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, the busiest gig and biggest payoff night of all for bands. And rightly so as live music is the best way to bring in a New Year! 😄 So, it is crunch time. We sang and practiced four hours together today and 2 hours before that independently. Amazing stamina, our band has. Lol. And we hit it again Saturday and pack up and off to gig Sunday for a thrilling 4 set gig to bring in the New Year with our band family and good music. So exciting. Only one year did we not have a NYE gig, when they cancelled due to construction not being completed in time. And that NYE was boring, watching a ball drop and punk kids “singing” non-melodic track-laden, lip-synced “songs” (but apparently I have nothing to say about that lol). So if you can, do go see a live band to bring in your New Year and you will be glad you did it right. Just a bit of friendly, unbiased, unsolicited advice. Lol 😄❤

School Preparation

I am a teacher, most of you know. I homeschool our 2 kids. I am also a doctor, mostly retired now, doing private consulting work also. And my teaching experience last year was the first time I had two different grades, officially, and now that it is 1st grade and 5th/6th grade, my greatest preparation is not.booms and supplies, I have those, but it is quite different. During school, I am a servant of God, of my children and their knowledge and growth, still of my husband. There is none of serving me to be had there, no room for it, no need for it. So my preparation is in finishing our story quilt, in decluttering my mind, in preparing my heart and soul for service, in growing spiritually and maintaining my relationship with God who strengthens me. And we will go full steam ahead, in deep worship of obedience to the Lord and humbling of my heart. And that, my friends, is incredibly beautiful!!!! Bring it on! ❤❤❤

The Start of Something

When my throat hurts, I am very sleepy for no reason and feel got, I know I am fighting a bug and need to rest. When the air is windy, tree frogs croak and clouds come billowing in, I know rain is coming and I need to reschedule outdoor events. When Jerusalem is surrounded by enemies, evil is at an all time high and the earth is rumbling and quaking at greater frequency, I know Jesus is Coming soon and we need to get right with Him. Do not ignore the signs of it. Prevent disaster by doing what you need to do to get your house in order spiritually and in every way. Throw out distractions and things taking too much time, they are not worth losing heaven over. Nothing on this planet is worth separation from God. Cling to Jesus Christ, our hope and salvation. Love Him for He loves you more than anyone else can ot will.

Sharpening the Ax when Trees Fall

When life gets really rough, it is like trees are falling all around you suddenly and without much warning. They might even fall on a part of you. This is happening more and more, dark things, messed up times. And it is so important to get really good at sharpening your ax. I mean, you have to prepare your tools for the job of forging through and making the problems smaller to dispose of them and use them to benefit you like burning them for heat or to cook with. How do we sharpen our axes? We humbly pray and read our Bible. A lot. When we pray and read our Bibles and even memorize key verses, we are allowing our axes to be sharpened. We are preparing to cut our problems down to size with the proper means. All these problems are spiritual battles, attacks from the enemy to harm us. But God is better and bigger and loves us so He can minimize problems and use them to improve us or become good now or later for us. It is amazing what God can do. We just have to do our part.

Ready, Aim, Wait, Keep Waiting…

Seems like we have to be ready and prepared all the time and then are in wait mode much of our lives. Never big on patience, I realize as a Christian I should be because patience is one of the attributes of God (fruits of the Spirit). So, having been told that patience is not the having to wait but the attitude while waiting, I received some hope from that as it proves everyone has to wait. Prepared people have to wait, unprepared people have to wait. But when our turn up finally arrives, those prepared can actually do something while those unprepared generally have to first be sent away to prepare and have to stand in line again. And those who have fallen asleep miss their turn entirely. I see salvation this way. If we are prepared, when the time comes when Jesus comes back, we get to see Him. If we are not prepared, we will be in trouble and may not have time to get ourselves in order. And if we are sleeping, we miss our chance entirely. We have to be ready. We have to be alert. Being a Marine’s daughter (Semper Fi!), I was told stories about rifle work, sniper’s task, and the hardest part of it being to stay alert when in place and ready and aimed up. You have to wait, for the right time, the right opportunity, a clear shot. Not that the rapture will involve us shooting at a person, but the principle remains, focus is our hardest task. Patience is our goal, the waiting well. I want to wait well. I want people to say, “There is that crazy girl, always talking about God and Jesus coming back, always trying to serve”. Nothing would make me happier than to think I am waiting well for my Savior. We need to think this way. We must. There is eternity at stake. And if that sounds crazy, so be it. I am okay with crazy for the right reason. I care what God thinks about me not people. I answer to Him for eternity, I owe no one else an explanation. They have their own eternity to contemplate. Wait well with me. Keep focused with busy hands in service, kindness and gentleness to everyone we happen upon, love to everyone crossing our path. This is waiting well.
