When people are wilfully ugly to us, we have a choice on how to respond. 1. We can pout and have a pity party, using that as an excuse to do something we should not that is entirely selfish/narcissistic. 2. We can get angry with righteous indignation and “vent” to everyone we know, using that maybe also as an excuse to do something we should not that is entirely selfish/narcissistic. 3. We can get even with revenge and unforgiveness (that unfortunately never hurts them) and inventing creative ways to be seen on the higher ground or be able to retake our wounded pride, often using that as an excuse to do something we should not that is entirely selfish/narcissistic. 4. We can pray and be thankful for what we have and the opportunity to set our pride down and turn to the Lord for help and comfort. And the last one there is of course the only option we should go to as Christians. Matthew 5:11. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you. (-Bible Offline).” Look at Paul and Silas’ response to wilfully ugly people. Acts: 13:50. “But the Jewish leaders incited the God-fearing women of high standing and the leading men of the city. They stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51. So they shook the dust off their feet as a warning to them and went to Iconium. 52. And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. (- Bible Offline).” And again, Acts 16:22. “The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods. 23. After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully. 24. When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them. (- Bible Offline).” Let’s be the Christians God intended us to be and really be that light I’m a dark world.❤
I am not the prettiest gal in the world. Don’t get me wrong, I am very attractive but not because I am pretty, it is because I am weird and real and fun. But the ugly I speak of is not the shallow appearance. I have seen ugly spew forth from the ugly heart of people, a lot lately. People who whine about the result of an election and think because they didn’t get what they want, they deserve to hurt other people. Like they matter more than another human God made. How deceived are these people. I have seen ugly people bullying people because they are there different or better than they are. There is a deception that putting someone down lifts you up. The inverse is true. Those who humble themselves will be lifted up and those who elevate themselves will be brought low. That is the truth of the matter. God rewards those who do the right thing, more so when they are persecuted for it. God is good and that ugly will be slammed down eventually. Better to change on your own and become a servant of God rather than risk becoming an eternal slave to separation from Him later when it lasts longer. Something to think about.
Love is the most powerful force in the world because God is love. And those who conquer for their own purposes do not realize they may have gained some small ground or even vast properties and successes for the moment but these evil people are walking dead. They are corpses walking around as if they will live forever in the riches they have set up for themselves. They are short sighted. They are fools. This world is a short stay stop on the way to forever, to eternity where we will live somewhere that has nothing to do with this current wealth and if life is lived God’s way, the place we will live holds riches that put this world to shame with a purity we have not seen since creation’s first day. So do not fear conquerers, evil people who bark death and smell of hatred. These people are already dead, do not fear them. Who to fear is God who controls your future eternal destination. That is where we need to focus. We need to focus on God, on Love, for God is Love. Cling to love, to this formidible force worth pursuing, stay far from the distractions meant to coerse us into foolishness- dead love to produce more dead. But life is much more powerful. Life is found in God and Love. This must be our focus. Evil will increase, we are seeing it everywhere, but we need not fear it. Love is much more powerful, and all who call on the name of God for help will receive help and those who accept salvation from God’s Son Jesus Christ, will be with Him in glory forever and all this is but a passing thought in the scope of eternity. Be encouraged and feel God’s Love deeply and richly and flourish in its glow. This is our hope.
“’People will insult you and hurt you. They will lie and say all kinds of evil things about you because you follow me. But when they do, you will be blessed. Rejoice and be glad, because you have a great reward waiting for you in heaven. People did the same evil things to the prophets who lived before you.'”- Matthew 5:11 – 12
Last night, a prominent conservative political comedian said that because of the persecution against Christians, even in America, the Christians should lay low and zip it. So, with this mindset, evidently, in order to be a Christian you have to disobey the Lord? God said things like, “He that is in you is greater than He who is in the world” and “Go therefore into all nations teaching… And I will be with you always” and “Whoever is ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of him” and “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” and “Blessed are you when men hate you and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely on account of me for your reward is in heaven.” So, it doesn’t sound like Christians are supposed to fear this world or men who choose to do evil. It looks a lot more like we are supposed to keep serving the Lord and speaking truth in Love to win souls to Him. Are we to hide? Are Christians to be quiet and never fulfill every Christian’s mandate to share their faith? No. The time of this world’s rule is about up. The time of Christ’s return is close and then we who are faithful will be with Him forever in heaven. That is a very long time. We cannot even begin to get how long that is. If I am persecuted, let it be so. I know what awaits me after this incredibly brief life is over. Are you going to threaten me with heaven? Really? Those who persecute us should be told what awaits them after their incredibly brief life is over.
