Ephesians 2:10

Ephesians 2:10. “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”❤

I Know Who You Are

You are not who you think you are. You are not who other people think you are. You are not what your mom or dad said necessarily. You are not who your myriad of critics say you are. You are none of those. You might be searching. You might wonder what else. You might have doubts, questions, thoughts. You might not care, seeing only the nose on your face. You might think you are what you do or what you eat or don’t eat or what you look like in the mirror. You are definitely not the bad things that happened to you or how ugly you felt during those times. You are not those things. You are most certainly not a series of various flaws held together by some miracle of evolution, mutation mistakes. Absurd! So, who are you? If I am so smart, who am I? What makes you so pompous to think you actually know me! But you see, there is a book that tells me who you are. People come with manuals and don’t even know it. I have read your manual. I have read mine. Here is who you are and who I am.
Ephesians 2:10 says I am God’s workmanship, created by God ahead of time for good works.
John 1:12 says I am a child of God.
1 John 4:4 says I am an overcoming child because the Holy Spirit in me is greater than anything in this world.
Galatians 3:26 says I am a child of God through faith.
2 Timothy 1:7 says I have a Spirit of power and self control.
2 Corinthians 12:27 says I am the a member of the body of Christ.
Philippians 3:20 says I am a citizen of Heaven.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 says I am a child of the light and the day.
1 Corinthians 6:20 says I was bought with a price.
2 Corinthians 5:20 says I am an ambassador of Christ.
Psalms 139:14 says I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Philippians 4:13 says I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
There are many other verses, many other truths yours for the reading. But you get the idea. The thing is this. You and I are who God says we are. The reason He knows so much is because He is not only your designer and engineer, the entire Creation force behind your existence, but He is also the undisputed lover of your soul. His creating you was not some fleeting thought, it was purposeful. You and I are incredible works of art, unable to be duplicated and priceless. You are not who you think because you are more. And no one can know the extent of it greater than the One who knows even up to date how many hairs are on your head or body or what sparkle arises in your eyes when you do that which He gave you to love the most. So when someone says you are this or that or when someone says you aren’t this or that or can not do this or that, respectfully shut their ignorance up and do not accept it as fact because they have no clue who God made you to be. And obviously they do not know themselves either because only in this ignorance can one person judge anything about another.

Too Complicated

When life requires so much stress to live it, it has become far more complicated than it was ever intended to be. The first purposes of the first lives were to take care of the world God had made, rule over it, have and raise babies, and worship (converse with) God. Our mandate has never changed from that with the exception that we are to go into our world and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ also. So, 5 things we have to do. 5 things. All of the other stuff and fluff are extraneous distractions from our purpose. Is that naive and simple minded, old fashioned and absurd. Maybe, but that doesn’t make it less true, does it? Just because we like our competitive and comparitive busy lifestyle and constant entertainment does not make it righteous. Just because we have grown lazy and tech dependent doesn’t mean it is more relevant to our purpose. Just because everyone is doing something does not make it right. It may very well mean a whole lot of people are wrong together, enjoying the companionship and pleasures of wrongness for a season. Seasons end and change. There is an end to it and we will stand before the One who made us and gave us those 5 purposes and will each individually have to report to our success in our 5 purposes. I am going to make it a point, a conscience effort to work on eliminating distractions from my life and focusing on my purpose for being here. I will work toward taking care of what God made, ruling my section of world, take care of my children, worshipping God and tell people the Good News. I invite you to do the same and maybe we can also encourage each other along the way. May God be glorified!

I’m An American Girl

I am a portrait of an American girl. Born in 1974, I am a true mutt, a Heinz 57 girl, with every nationality in me. I am part Patawatomi Indian, French, Scotch-Irish, English, Swedish, German, Hungarian, and probably more that I don’t know yet. My Father was a small farmer in the Midwest (Buchanan, Michigan), an ex-Marine of 7 years’ service, and a good Christian man. We grew up in church with a belief that a good education was more important than finery. We had two dogs, a cat, a guinea pig, some fish here and there, and an occasional hermit crab. I can shoot a mean rifle and bow and arrow with accuracy. I can pitch a ball and hit pretty good and played in little league then church league. July 4th was a very very big party at our house with hundreds of dollars worth of fireworks, a barbecue and homemade ice cream. More important than all that was the fact that I am extremely proud of my American heritage. We are a free people, and not too many countries can boast that with such confidence. Our history includes pathetic and downright ugly occasions, some massacres and some bad political leaders, and that is not pretty. However, in getting us to freedom of speech, freedom to bear arms, freedom to govern ourselves and our families as our conscience dictates, freedom to worship the Lord together in church, freedom to speak, freedom to vote for those who start off good in office, freedom to work, freedom to own land, etc., all these freedoms come at high cost and include ugly stories and some absolutely divine and inspiring ones. I am proud of my ancestors who came over on the Mayflower and some that were already here and all they endured to keep surviving and having babies generation after generation until I am here today. I am proud of their integrity in raising generation after generation who cherished and read the Bible together and went to church. I am thankful to grow up in a time period where we could leave our doors unlocked and sleep soundly in our beds. I am thankful that I had friends who were many different colors and nationalities and we all had a great time together. I am proud that I walked freely in my neighborhood and everyone knew each other because people talked to each other. I am an American woman, and there is no place in the world I would rather claim as my beloved country. We need to pray and work hard to keep it that way. We are America, the freedom makers and defenders. We must continue this high calling from God.

Family Is

An amazingly beautiful thing is maturity in the Lord. We should long for it. And when it happens for you, meaning along the journey of it, we find what family truly is. It may very well encompass those born of a close line of flesh and blood, but it doesn’t have to be. I have many sisters and brothers and mothers a d fathers and even children of the faith. What does that mean? It means that those God has saved (as He saved you) and put into your acquaintance are your family. In fact, they can be closer than flesh and blood family because we share a common Spirit and belief system and journey and future. Family is therefore, as Jesus said, those who obey Him and follow God’s will, which is always His Word. So, family is strong when we are in obedience together. Family is strong because our unity is bigger than any power on this Earth (that of the Holy Spirit). Family is smart together because the Lord guides us. Family is important because we are doing work that lasts forever and earns us rewards in Heaven. Family is encouraging, knowing that we all have different and valuable gifts to use for each other and ultimately for the Lord. Family is focused on the Lord and His kingdom’s growth. Family is ho eat because God is our Father and there is no lie where He lives. Family is beautiful because God created it and fit it together perfectly. Family is well timed and well ordered, as God always has perfect timing. His perfection gives us additional beauty. Family offends the world just by being like Christ who they hate because the enemy runs much of the world for now. Family helps family, as is His design. It is a beautiful thing to be a part of the family of God. I am proud of my heritage!
