Gentleness cannot be overrated. This is especially true when you make the choice to improve your health in any or every way and the people around you choose not to. This is a situation where you can easily become preachy without meaning to and judgmental or “helpful” without remembering how long it took you to choose health.
What I am saying is that in becoming healthier, add gentleness and flexibility to that health goal. The Lord will help you gladly with this task when you ask Him because it is best for everyone.
Look, we live in a world of loud. The more gentle we can be, the better for furthering the kingdom of God and the more light you are n in this world. And gentleness will just maybe help other people want to make their own choice to be healthier.❤
Previously my worst character flaw, I have struggled with gentleness. As a born leader, always thrust into leadership positions, I have not been treated with much gentleness by many except my grandparents and closest friends. And when they were gentle, I misunderstood it as meekness, weakness even sometimes. I thought these traits were detrimental to leadership at worst, not necessary at best. I realize now, with maturity and wisdom God blessed me with, that gentleness is one of the strongest powers a leader can possess. It is not weakness that drives gentleness but a choice to be gentle even when it is easy to be otherwise. It is self-control and humbleness mixed with wisdom and diplomacy. There are jerks who are jerks because they never met gentleness in their life. Now gentleness must be balanced with the rest of the fruits of the Spirit for the best possible me or you. But gentleness is definitely a powerful trait to practice.❤
It was brought to my attention yesterday that my weak fruit of the Spirit is gentleness. In fact, most of my life I have specialized in the opposite. I have spoken truth with power and might without the benefit of gentle love. “Gentleness is weakeness” has kinda been an unspoken motto. I never even considered it. And I realize now that gentleness is power under the control of love. And that cloak or reins of love is exactly what would benefit those around me the most. Power/strength isn’t what is needed in this world. Gentle love is. ❤❤❤
Nowhere in the Bible does it tell us to judge one another. There are, quite oppositely, many commands not to judge and several references that call Jesus Christ the only Judge. Also, there are numerous commands to love each other. In fact, the Bible makes us very responsible for our own behavior and makes us completely unresponsible for other people’s behavior. However, it should be mentioned that those in a church in authority are doubly responsible for their own behavior and additionally we are all cautioned to not be a cause for anyone else sinning. But we lay people are charged with the job of being loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle and self controlled. That is our calling in life, our priority after salvation. In doing these things, we will never offend and will naturally draw people to Christ. All this judging nonsense needs to stop. I always tell my son, “You do you and let them do them”. Our attributes and purity will do great good and if enough of us focus on that, we can change the world for Christ!
We (Christ followers) give the world flavor and the ability to see. Jesus Christ said that we (His followers) are the salt of the world and the light of the world. That means that we have what the world needs. We have taste enhancers and light to see with in the form of our lives shining with the Holy Spirit who lives in us and teaches us how to shine and flavor the world. Our caution is to not lose our ability to flavor and not hide our light. So, as long as we keep doing what we are supposed to be doing, we will continue to help people see the truth and spice up their palate to enjoy fully our lives on this planet. Think about it, it is us who have the Holy Spirit in us, so we are carrying around in us love and joy, peace and patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. No wonder we are salt and light! These are the things people need most!! We have these tools! And we know how we got them, so we can hall other people get these valuable treasures too. We have to share. The beauty is that sharing these treasures actually gives you more than you had, both in this life and the one to come! We got the flavor, baby! We got the light! Live like you do!
