Our church is too tiny to have a VBS program. So we were very blessed to receive an invitation rom friends to go to theirs. So happy about that! My kids went and loved it very much. I highly recommend having your kids and/or grandkids go to VBS (Vacation Bible School) this summer. It is great for our kids to get together with other kids and learn more about the Bible together and have fun and fellowship. Matters so much. We are not made in a vacuum but are built to socialize and fellowship together. 😄❤
My husband and I just had a deep conversation (not unusual). We were discussing who we as human beings are, what we are made of, and what changes in our life. And here is our discussion and thoughts summed up. Here goes:
We (people) are comprised of these parts, in this order:
1. Physical body
2. Our mentality and thought processes.
3. Our soul.
4. Our spirit.
When we are born and as long as we remain immature, we stick with thr physical selves, which can be selfish and always is taking care of staying alive and wants and needs. As we grow and hopefully mature in life, we develop and give prominence and power to the mentality, a higher function which considers others around us also and consequences, memories, etc. Then as we further mature and develop, we give prominence and power to our soul, where we have a greater idea of who God made us to be and our connectedness to the spirit, with built in personal identity in the bigger picture of God’s kingdom. And the highest goal of maturity and growth and development is to give prominence and power to the spirit in intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit/Source of Goodness and Love.
We can screw this up by opening the spirit to evil spirits inadvertently and ignorantly (or willingly) via the physical or mentality. We can and so screw it up by remaining immature.
How do we shift to the goal of spiritual prominence and connectedness to the Holy Spirit/Good/Love? We read the Bible and pray and start to incorporate its values into our lives until we can be humble enough to let God transform us and shift us to this new form. And when it happens, it is beautiful.😄❤
New Age crap sounds good. It will even temporarily make you feel good, great even. The truth about it is that it focuses you on yourself, the opposite focus we should have, which is on God. It is directly opposing God. It is in fact replacing Him OR putting Him in a box inside us, as in we are powerful, we are gods, we are worthy of all our attention and pampering.
Let me be clear, we should love and care for ourselves and work to improve, but that is what we should do for others too AND God should always get center stage, top billing, all the praise, adoration and honor.
God lovingly and with great care and thought and wisdom created every single thing, animal, person we know of in this universe. He is the boss of it. That is true no matter what you believe, feel, want, campaign for, like, love, whatever.
So instead of all that narcissistic self-improvement crap and blather, try some reading your Bible and praying to and worshipping God. He is worthy, we are not.❤❤❤
People try to balance right and wrong. As if doing more good than bad saves your eternal soul. This is a ridiculous, ludicrous notion and here is why. Who determines what is right and wrong and which is better and keeps tabs on which you do in what column? See the ridiculousness of it? It is laughable. Even if you get right and wrong from the truth of the Bible, there are sometimes extrenuous circumstances and that God searches the heart, intent and motivation as much as what we do. So who can be more right than wrong by those high standards? You see how flawed that thinking is?
What God calls us to is perfection. But what He means by that is complete and mature and balanced. He wants us saved by the blood and resurrection power of Christ Jesus, which is a free gift in response to a humble prayer for it. Then we are saved. No right and wrong balanced, we are saved and secure for eternity with Him as long as we keep our humble prayer for salvation our heart’s desire. And no strings are attached, it is our gift. The complete maturity and balance (of eternity thinking and now thinking) comes after that as we live our lives focused on Him, maturing, growing, learning and studying truth, serving, appreciating, worshipping, praying, etc. As we strive every minute, every day, every thought or goal to be a follower of Christ Jesus, we become more like Him and eventually take on His likeness and focus and perspective. That is the perfection God calls us to. He takes us as we are, loves us, blesses us with the free gift of salvation, then trains us to be so much more for n our benefit and His kingdom’s benefit. And this is His will for us all. He loves us that much! How amazing is that! How perfect is He!❤❤❤
Laying down your burdens to the Lord requires the first step of laying down your pride and tight grip on these burdens. We fixate on the problems and thus they grow while our faith hangs put on the sidelines and shadows waiting its use. We need to humble our heart and visualize placing our problems/burdens at the foot of Jesus who can actually help and grab our faith up and then let go of those burdens. Then focus on God who just helped you yet again and thank Him for it. Ponder His amazing ability to handle every problem in the world simultaneously. Really try to n wrap your head around that and then be thankful that such a powerful God delicately made you and sustains you because of His enormous, unfathomable love for you.❤❤❤
