I am in two bands, the band at church to worship God with my talent and our band that makes money playing oldies variety music to help seniors relive their good days and bring them joy all over central Florida. Tonight, we had band practice for our 5 piece band. And it is so fun. We have good clean fun and only play the best songs, always uplifting and good classic or iconic songs. And our entire band has played together for over a year and a half (and four of us for two years and three of us for five years). We have so much fun and are very much a band family. And we all need a break in our week and love getting together to jam. Even with no gigs in the summer (there just aren’t any in Florida in the summer, thank God because when there are gigs they are outside- too hot), we all still want to keep playing. Just makes us a tighter band family. And we are hoping to work on a couple more originals. So fun and exciting. It is wonderful. I love being part of two band families, and all of us are Christians in both bands. Best bandsnin the world- all get along and play great music together. So precious!😄❤
We love gigging. It is how we met, is extra pocket money for us, is a shared music passion, is our only mutual hobby and really all we do together other than eat. So gigging with our band or at church is amazing to us, we live it. God gives us joy but we get our sheer happiness and bliss from music, the talent God gave us.
However, as we are not younger and younger but quite the opposite is in fact true, it is quite a pain to load and unload the equipment twice per gig, lots of gear and we carry for everyone. It is a lot, it is heavy, and it is time consuming. We try to minimize this by having our kids be our roadies (for a little pocket money). This helps but today that didn’t work because they were not here. And as my husband’s knees are needing replacement, I have the crux of the load. It is a lot of work.
But I have never been a stranger to hard work. And to be truthful (and please add dramatic pause for I am about to make a deep, poignant statement), you receive much fuller joy when you have to work for it, even if it hurts. When it costs something, it is worth more. When you work for it, it is sweeter.😄 ❤
Our old band. Those were the days. I love our new band but just wanted to reminisce about the old band. Ahhh. Miss it. The new is great but every band family has its own flavor. Homage to Smooth Sentiment Band.❤😚🎤🎹🀄🎸
And here is the new:https://youtu.be/gB8izHt17X8
We had a great gig tonight!! Praise God! We even started off heavy with life and therefore out of sync with each other. Even with that and about a hundred little foibles, we managed it and got tighter the rest of the sets and were happy and vibing so that we cheered each other up and the crowd and it was fantastic. So many compliments and we are playing there once a month now. Amazing. So proud of our band family and this great team. God is so good!❤
Fyi: Smooth Sentiment Band is our band family. I love my band so much. We have Steve (my husband) on guitar and synth; Kevin on lead male vocals (also the worship leader at our church); Brett on drums, Ken on Bass and of course me on keys and vocals. We all play at two different churches for worship also but this is a fun way to make side money and enjoy playing out at various gigs. We love it and the links to our youtube demo videos is just foe your entertainment. Just wanted to explain. We have so much fun together. Love ya!❤
