CEU Days

So, I am up for renewal of my Audiology license and every other year am forced with a smile to do 30 CEUs  (continuing education units).  I can only do 10 hours as day, so am forced to do them as such over a 3 day span to knock them out. It costs a heap of money and is intrusive but I understand why they exist… to make someone money and be a pain in the neck. But I also learn a tad bit. Being a doctor for 15 years, I know a little bit about my profession. I don’t know everything so it is a wee good in a skantish way. But anyway, I am plugging along, getting my first 10 finished and reported today. Two more days of this nonsense to go. Yippee. But as a bonus break because God loves me, we had an extra band practice tonight! Highlight of my study day for sure. We have the best band we have ever had and we are a great, positive family having a whole heap of fun and making the most amazing music together! It is a blessing and and half and I believe God put us together. No doubt in my mind. Thank you, God!❤

NYE Gig

So, we brought in the New Year with our band family and amazing people who paid a lot of money to see us. And it went great. With a new drummer and lead male vocalist, the whole night had a new, fresh flavor. I really dig thr new drummer. I haven’t wanted to dance like that since Wil left us and it was so much fun again!!! ❤ And our singer did an amazing job covering some pretty difficult standards. So it was fantastic and I am so happy with our band! And our dancing audience had a wonderful time, so many compliments! Praise God! ❤

Music, Music, Music

New Year’s Eve is fast approaching, the busiest gig and biggest payoff night of all for bands. And rightly so as live music is the best way to bring in a New Year! 😄 So, it is crunch time. We sang and practiced four hours together today and 2 hours before that independently. Amazing stamina, our band has. Lol. And we hit it again Saturday and pack up and off to gig Sunday for a thrilling 4 set gig to bring in the New Year with our band family and good music. So exciting. Only one year did we not have a NYE gig, when they cancelled due to construction not being completed in time. And that NYE was boring, watching a ball drop and punk kids “singing” non-melodic track-laden, lip-synced “songs” (but apparently I have nothing to say about that lol). So if you can, do go see a live band to bring in your New Year and you will be glad you did it right. Just a bit of friendly, unbiased, unsolicited advice. Lol 😄❤

Sitting in the Studio

I had a dream last night about playing a gig with our present and past band members playing an all day gig together. It was so good and I woke up happy. So, Steve and I are aglitting here in the studio listening to all our tracks and lay recordings of current and past band members, and now and then we’ll hear Sherman’s  voice or Wil’s or Fonzy playing or Bill singing or Artie, etc. It reminds me of those beautiful musical moments with our band family. And I appreciate those moments.❤

Christmas Shopping is Complete

Praise the Lord! I had zero gifts before yesterday and all gifts last night. I am happy and slept it, plum exhausted. So I feel a little guilty but it passed quickly. And wow, did I have a great dream. I was gigging with my band, some now members and some from the past. It was so much fun and felt comforting, like home. So I woke up late but happy and shopping is done and the best part is we finally have no plans today!! Praise the Lord!! I hope you have a great, relaxing day also. ❤

Blessings of a Good Band

We have the best band we have ever had now. No inflated egos, no negativity, no drama, no demands. We are having fun playing good music together. It is ideal. It is fun. And we are better than ever as a band because of it. Any gig you need entertainment for in Central Florida, Smooth Sentiment is the right band for oldies variety dance rock and roll music. (Shameless plug because we are that excited about it lol). But I am writing this just to show appreciation and thank God publicly for this new great band we have. It is appreciation blessing and a breath of fresh air. We have never been so excited to play music together. And I know that all good tuings come from God. Praise God!❤❤❤

Special Kind of Talent

I was able to be a supportive wife with my kids today at my husband’s gig at Old Town. Yet somehow my special kind of talent again allowed me to help set up and tear down as well as do the sound check as the lead female vocalist and pianist were late. So I worked during the gig and supported my husband and the band he was helping out. I always manage to be helping or filling in or something. I arrive and end up being a teacher or roadie or sound checker or boss or janitir, whatever the need is. That seems to be my talent. I guess that is either competent or a humble servant’s heart or just naive. In any case, God knows full well I work for Him and no one else. Those I help I see as helping Him. Someone asks me to help, I assume God just asked me to help. That is how I was brought up and how I am. And I guess my stubbornness and faith kick in and I do it whether or not I ever have, and God always blesses my efforts for Him. For instance, the band appreciated what I did and asked me to sing lead for them in another gig. So… cool. And God always blesses my support of my husband (even if he was really mean that day). It is funny. When I drop my pride and be supportive and do what I know I should do, God blesses and the I am treated better. Most of the time. But even if not, I am not working for a person, I work for God, you see. So this night was very fun and they were great and I am rewarded and happy and exhausted. Going to bed now. Sweet dreams, friend. ❤
