Back to Back Gigs

Tomorrow we play a private party gig and Sunday afternoon we play a gig at Cornfusion in North Lakeland. So excited. And the guys must be too because they wanted an extra last minute practice today. So, as I sang and played the whole practice, it will be like 3 gigs in a row. Lol. But we are excited. I am not sure how many more years God will provide us gigs, but we will play until we can’t and have a busy season lined up. It is magnificent to make people smile and remember days gone by. It lifts our heaets and our band family just adores plating great, clean oldies music for people. It us even so fun to practice with our great group. One of many.blessings of God and I am so honored and blessed to be a part of it. Demos are here. https://www.smoothsentiment.us/demos.html so you can see us. We sure love it playing good music. Just sharing our joy and praying God blesses you with beautiful, fun hobbies also! This should be fun! πŸ˜„β€

The Gig Tonight

We went to a gig tonight. It was at Old Town in Kissimmee. My husband (on guitar) and our lead singer filled in for a band we used to play with. In fact, we met in his band and married a few years later. But we network because any time a musician can express themselves with their craft, especially with other craftsmen to express themselves, we do that.

So, I was in charge of the GoPro and snapped a few pics. Strange going to a gig and not playing keys or singing. So, I ran a little sound and got some video feed and then had some time to kill.

So, my kids and I danced. I got to dance a lot. The band was really good, great songs and played really well and balanced. It was a rocking night.

So, this guy asked me to dance, maybe felt bad that I was dancing alone. And he taught me to Cha-Cha. I had never danced with a guy who led and I followed. And I had never danced the Cha-Cha with a guy leading me. Except that one time in college with the Spanish couple across the hall from my apartment in college and they had that party and insisted I come. But that was like 20 years ago.

Anyway, I learned something new tonight and it was so fun. I appreciated my hubby’s skill on thr guitar. I appreciated the leads. I loved hearing. When you play, you don’t hear the results the way the audience does. You feel it more than hearnit really, it is a combo thing. It is really cool to hear the finished product.

So we got home exhausted and very late and I drank about a gallon of water. But I am so very thankful to have learned a new dance or just even to follow a guy’s lead in a dance. And it is so easy to follow a good leader.

This reminds me that a good, confident, strong leader is easy to follow. When not good, confident or strong, a leader is difficult to follow. You don’t know what the expectations are, especially when it is something new. So if you are leading, be clear, be concise, be confident, be easy to follow. Because when that happens, it is fun and beautiful and you remove the stress and tension of it.❀

Band Joys

Our band is delightful. During the slow season, we were going to biweekly band practice originally. But practice today was so fun, as it has been since we formed up and we all unanimously decided to get back to weekly practice just for the fun. It’s really really fun and therapeutic. Music cannot be under-estimated. It is so powerful and a blast when everyone works together united harmoniously. It is fantastic! Thank you, God for it!❀

Band Blessings

I am in thr best band of my life. I have had good bands, but this current band is phenomenal. We are all good musicians, not perfect but good, but when we play together, something extraordinary happens and everyone feels and knows it both within our band and those listening. Every gig we have done has gotten three or four more gigs and rave reviews. Never before have things clicked like this and you cannot believe how deeply I am grateful to God for it, the Giver of all good. πŸ˜„ ❀

Kentucky Derby Gig

So, this is a first for our band. We are headed to a Kentucky Derby Gig now in Tampa. Super excited. They are paying us well and we will not disappoint for we learned three songs for this unique gig related to their theme and we are introducing our original band introduction song. And what a fun day! A new place, a new theme, fun, all with our band family. So, Lord willing it goes well. I am stoked. And may God get the glory for a job well done!,πŸ˜„β€πŸ΄
