I think being ready for anything is internal. I believe, as I grow in maturity through this life that being ready and prepared is first spiritual, then mental, then emotional and physical. Those last two are the easiest things to manipulate and disrupt, so they have to be forced into the last position in succession. The spiritual, if we are walking close to God in humility/contrition and faith, we are ahead of the game on all fronts. Not that we become amazing but that God is amazing and can work freely in us. Closeness to God is the first and foremost priority on being ready for anything. There are no surprises to Him, nothing He cannot put in its proper place or perspective. He is everything. Closeness to Him is being protected eternally by the Maker of everything we know of or even don’t know yet. Then He helps set our mind right second for whatever situation arises. Then He takes care of the basest of all, the emotions and physical areas, our weakest points. Here we need the most help for we are vulnerable. And our vulnerability is not bad at all but must be taught and guided or it can become so very quickly. Or it can be molded into a beauty to help other people that surpasses what we can do without it. If we start with the highest priority on humble and faithful closeness to God, loving, good, kind, self-controlled, gentle, faithful, joyful, peaceful, patience, everything else becomes assets guided by Him to allow us to be prepared for anything now or to come eternally.
